This is for all of the Professors to get some thread count... so no plot intended, but lets see where it goes!
Alurane was tired of dealing with the lesson plans. She had her ideas already done, and she had no troubles getting the supplies. She was here at the school because she had no home, and she had no choice. She didn't mind, but some days got boring. She was glad that the Head Mistress had called a week long staff meeting. For her that meant that she wouldn't be alone. The meeting was to take place in the Great Hall. There was no dress code for this, so she was dressed in her usual gothic atire. She was wearing a black skirt that came to mid thigh, and some chains around her waist. She had a snug shirt on it, with a picture of the most recent Harry Potter movie. She loved watching it, and it was funny how some things were similar. She appeared to be the first one there, and she was bored out of her mind.

Philip was told about a staff meeting that was to be taken place this week. It's not that he hated staff meetings it's just that it was valuable time that he could be using to prepare for the upcoming lessons. For each and every year he taught it was alot of work to do. Sometimes he forgot that not all students were as smart as he ever was. Not saying that his students were stupid he just held a high standard for all his students.
Like all professors should. He never understood kind teachers that didn't put a certain ammount of pressure on their students, then wondered why the students wern't trying. All of his students knew if they tried and succeeded he was very happy, if they tried and failed he was still happy since there was room for improvement. When a student refused to try that's when he get's upset. He walked into the staff room and smiled at Alurane.
" How's it going today?" He asked her as he took a seat. He usually wore his robes so that's what he wore today.

Alurane turned to see Philip there. She was relieved to see him there because she was bored out of her mind. She planned everything over the summer, and she only had a small area to live in, so spring cleaning wasn't an issue. She paced the room in front of the fire, and her chains jingled a little, and it made her smile. She remembered back to when she was younger going through school. She always wore chains around her waist and loved the gothic attire. She was tired of waiting, but when Philip asked her how things were going she smirked and stopped her pacing.
She turned to look at him and leaned against the mantle. "You know, the usual. I had a kid blow up his cauldron today, and another slice into his fingers with his knife. On top of that I had to evacuate the room because someone made a potion that smelled so horrible I thought I would vomit." She said to him. She knew that complaining about her day probably wasn't the best thing, but she thought he should know. "So how was your day Philip?" She said referring to him by his full name because she felt like it. She hoped that the other professors showed up soon so that she could get out of here and go do something else.

Philip shook his head a she liestend to her talk about her day. He wondered what year these students were. " And which years were all of those students?" He asked her finally getting his question out. He would understand if any of those were first years they were allowed to make mistakes like that. Although all students were entitled to accidentally slice their fingers that was easy enough to do.
So he heard anyway he somehow avoided that when he was in school. " Pretty average day" He told her with a nod of his head. Then decided it would be best to go into detail with her " Well one student today was having issues with the eaisest spells today yet was doing well on the more complex spells, another was struggling with the hard spells but doing great on the easy spells so I set them up to be each others tutor, third years will soon be writting their reports for me on werwolfs, unfortantley first they have to sit through long classes" He told her shrugging his shoulders.

Alurane chuckled when he asked what years that happened to. "Amazingly it wasn't my first years. A second year Slytherin got too full of himself, and added the wrong ingredient so he made us evacuate the room. A third year wasn't paying attention and he sliced his fingers. The one who blew up the cauldron was a surprise to me, but since he wasn't paying attention to her potion he added the wrong ingredient at the wrong time, and scared me to death!" She said while shaking her head. She couldn't believe that people could be so stupid and careless, but she knew that things happened.
She looked at him as he explained his day, and she was surprised. "I can't believe that some of those kids can't get the simplest spells. I guess they would be more drawn to the non magic type things in this world. I hope they get better at their weaknesses." She could understand the weakness in some areas and strengths in others. She saw some of that in her classes, but it wasn't as extreme as what he was describing. "Reports aren't fun to grade, but let's hope that the students focus on their papers and not on their brooms or other non academic classes.' She said to him.

Philp let out a laugh when she told him it wasn't his first years that had made those mistakes. The only time he really let loose was when he was talking to fellow teachers. He didn't really have to prove anything to them, student's he did. He shook his head along with her " Potions is dangerous, a good skill is the ability to concetrate" He just said. Well techinically all subjects needed concetration but espically potions.
If you wern't concetrating when the professor said which ingridents to use trouble could arise. Philip nodded his head he felt like a failure if students didn't get spells " The shocking thing is that they're both fourth years" He said letting out a sigh. Philip grinned " I actually enjoy reading reports, does that make me odd?" He asked her. He knew which students would slack off on their reports but he knew if it wasn't as well as they could do it he would make them re-write it.

Alurane knew that he only really was himself when he wasn't around students. He wanted to prove to his students that with hard work you got to be where he was. She didn't really care what her students thought of her. She was only in her late twenties. In reality if she didn't take the teaching job she would most likely have just given up magic in general. She only really used it to show her class. She was raised a muggle, and she did a lot of the things now a days like a muggle still. Granted it took more time, but she didn't mind. It was her life and she lived it the way she wanted to. She used her magic carefully, and she watched how much she used.
When he said that it is dangerous she nodded her agreement. "I would have to agree with you there. I find it annoying that the students think that Potions will not be used in their life outside of the school, and some of the easier potions I teach are some they will need in their lifetime even if they choose not to go out into the work force. They think they can mess around, and that it won't hurt them. I think I might have a talk and demonstration with them" She said to him with a slight smile on her face. She liked talking to Philip, and he was a young teacher like her.
She walked to the window and looked out over the courtyard. The sky was starting to get covered in clouds, and she knew it would rain soon. The rain reminded her of the day that she had to erase her parent's memories, and she knew that she would want to cry. She shook her head slightly and heard him say that the students that had the issues were fourth years and she chuckled. "Well that is the year that students stop thinking the other gender is off limits and they get curious. We were that age once as well. Just keep reminding them to focus on their work, and that their O.W.L.s are coming up next year." She said to him looking over her shoulder with a smirk.
She turned back to the window and when he said that he liked grading papers she laughed a little. "I always hated writing them and I hate grading them. That is why my classes focus mostly around the practical aspect of potions, and when I do make them write an essay it is mostly about the process and results of a potion that I know the outcome of. It makes things simple." She answered his comment with a slight smirk. She walked back to the fireplace and she squatted down in front of it to look at the fire. It had died down, and so she got some logs and a copy of the daily prophet and began re-lighting the fire. She knew it was the muggle way to do things, but she found it more satisfying to do it by her own hands than use a wand.

Philip nodded his head as she spoke he couldn't believe that students could be so reckless when it came to a dangerous subject like potions. All subjects taught here can be dangerous if not done properly but potions could not only hurt yourself but the others around you as well. When she said she was going to have a talk with them he agreed in an instant " Sounds like they think it's easy and they don't need to concetrate, defenitly something should be done about that" He said agreeing with her. Philip grinned when she said it was the year they got curious about the opposite gender. Philip had no time for girls he was always too busy with his school work.
Guess he was an exception to the typicall teenager. He hasn't even had a girlfriend yet or even his first kiss so he was way out of pratice with girls. Philip nodded his head " I remind them at least once every week, so if they still don't realize it then I need to say it more" He said with a laugh. Philip grinned " That works too, that's the joy of having different teaching styles in this school, if everybody had a teacher like me life would be very hard" He said shrugging his shoulders.

Alurane listened to him comment that it was just like she said. She knew he was just confirming her thoughts, but she disliked it when people did things like that. She wasn't one to do that, and she wished people wouldn't. "Yes, well they will soon realize that it isn't that easy. I could just make the lesson harder, but I won't. That would mean more work for me, and as much as I like being stressed I would rather not turn grey this young." She said to him. She may have used a bit too much sarcasm in her last sentence, but she felt like using it. She knew about Philip's aversion to dating, and how he always seemed to have no time for a relationship, but she couldn't help but to think it was a cover for some personal issue in his past.
"The demonstration I will do will show them that they need potions more than what they think. They won't be getting off so easily." She replied to him with a smirk. She knew her demonstration would seem a little extreme, but she wanted to get her point across to the students. She hoped that they would get the hint and start studying. She didn't want to have to look at abysmal test scores for the millionth time. It would make her life so much easier if she just had her students pay attention in class and do their work to keep her off their back. Alas they won't, and so she will have to push them to succeed. When he said that if everyone had a teacher like him that life would be hard he wasn't kidding. She knew first hand what it was like having a teacher who piled on all the work, and then going to another teacher who did the same. She didn't like it, but she persevered so that she could get through and protect her parents. She stopped her train of thought there so that she didn't think about them and she wiped her mind. "I know how that is. I've had to endure it myself when I was going through my final years. I had to write so many papers once I had to go to the hospital wing to get my wrist looked at to make sure I didn't get carpal tunnel." She replied to him with a chuckle. That was a fun couple of weeks.

Philip grinned nervously he had no idea if she was flirting with him or not. He had no experience with girls or in this case women. He also had no idea how to flirt back so this was going to be interstering if she was flirting with him. There would be nothing wrong with a professor romance going on as long as none of the students figured it out. Philip grinned " That will be an interstering day for them" He said nodding his head.
He could only imagine what kind of demonstration she would be doing. Proably something that would scare them into trying harder. Philip winced a little " Oh dear did she fix your wrist?" Philip asked her a little worried. But she seemed to be alright so that was good.

Alurane could tell that he was a little shy around her when she was just talking to him. She wished she could see inside his head and figure him out, but she wasn't going to use her ability in legilimency for evil. She would just get inside his head the old fashioned way. She would talk it out of him. "Yes it will be." She said to him. She was losing interest in the subject they were talking about and she couldn't seem to figure out something to say. She wondered if for a moment that she was scaring him. She could seem a little extreme, but she couldn't help who she was.
When he asked if her wrist was fixed she grinned. "If if wasn't would I still be using it?" She asked him being a little bit of a smart ass. She enjoyed it and she wondered what type of reaction she would get out of him. He seemed so calm and reserved, but she wasn't sure what was under there. She had worked with him for a while, but no one had ever gotten under his skin to figure out what makes him tick. She decided to make it her job to get him to open up to her. If he wouldn't then he was a lost cause, but if he did then maybe he was just as normal as any other witch or wizard going to the school.

Philip went a deep shade of red when she made her comment. Wow that was stupid of him of course if her wrist was still broken she wouldn't be using it. It would be just really impossible. " Sorry stupid question" He said with a chuckle and scratched the back of his head. He never understood why he was so akward around women his own age.
Even when he was younger he had problems with women his own age. It could be that the opposite sex never showed any intrest in him romantically. It was always just a friendship that they wanted with him. Even that was akward for him sometimes. Espically when his female friends were attractive.
" So um have you ever been married?" He asked her randomly having no idea where that had come from or even why he had asked.

Alurane chuckled and shook her head. "There is no such thing as a stupid question." She told him with a smirk. She knew how it was to not realize something and ask a question and then realize that the question she had asked was not needed. She looked at him as he blushed and she thought it kind of cute on him. She could tell that he was feeling a little out of place with her being friendly to him. She wondered why a good looking guy was so shy around women. She just didn't understand it.
When he asked if she had ever been married she laughed and said, "I'm only in my twenties! Of course I've never been married. I live at the school for heavens sake." She chuckled out. She wasn't sure what brought him to ask that, but it did make her laugh. "What makes you think that I've ever been married?" She asked him. She did want to know because it was a very interesting thing to ask someone who you have known for a few years as a fellow teacher.
