- An O.W.L. in Arithmancy is required to apply for a curse-breaker's job at Gringotts'.
- Arithmancy at Hogwarts is taught by Professor Thomas. In her class, students are expected to write essays and to be able to understand complicated number charts, which are part of their homework.
- This class is an elective, and you can start it in your third year.

Care of Magical Creatures Professor: | Professor Xavier Simpson | Textbook: | Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them, The Monster Book of Monsters | Class Details: | - Classwork usually consists of handling, feeding, controlling various creatures. Homework included drawing a detailed diagram of a bowtruckle with all parts labeled.
- Students at Hogwarts start Care of Magical Creatures in their third year. They study the life cycles of various magical creatures, some of which can be rather dangerous. They learn to care for, feed, and manage the creatures, and also learn lore about them and how to use them (or parts of them) for magical purposes.
- The classes take place outdoors, although on one occasion the class was moved indoors when the weather was particularly bad. Some activities are conducted on the lawn or in the pumpkin patch near Hagrid's cabin, while other classes require a trip into the Forest.

- Flobberworms - third year
- Blast-Ended Skrewts – fourth year

- Correctly identify the Knarl hidden among a dozen hedgehogs (the trick was to offer them all milk in turn: Knarls, highly suspicious creatures whose quills had many magical properties, generally went berserk at what they saw as an attempt to poison them);
- Then demonstrate correct handling of a Bowtruckle;
- Feed and clean out a Fire Crab without sustaining serious burns;
- Choose, from a wide selection of food, the diet they would give a sick unicorn

Charms Professor: | Professor Fredrick Deike | Textbook: | The Standard Book of Spells | Class Details: | - Charms is concerned with enchanting an object to behave in a way that isn’t normal for that object.
- Charms is like something that isn’t Transfiguration.
- Some charms can be extremely powerful and can completely hide something, or permanently damage something.
- This class is not an elective, and you take it until the end.
Lesssons by Year
- First year: Wingardium Leviosa, and basic charms. The exam is making a pineapple dance across the desk.
- Second Year: Lumos, and Nox and more basic to moderate charms. The exam is properly disarming your proctor with Expelliarmus.
- Third Year: Cheerig Charms, and more moderate charms. Exam is using a growth charm on a little quill.
- Fourth Year: Summoning Charm, and Banishing Charm. Exam is summoning an object to you from across the courtyard.
- Fifth Year: Silencing Charms, and more advanced charms. Exam is creating a teacup on legs.
- Sixth Year: Aguamenti and more advanced charms. Exam is using the Invisibility Charm
- Seventh Year: Training for the N.E.W.T.

Herbology Professor: | Professor Velma Tronar | Textbook: | One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi | Class Details: | - Herbology is the study of magical plants and their care and uses.
- This class is not an elective, and you can end it after your fifth year.
Classes list by Year
- First: Work with not dangerous plants, and have many lectures about dangerous plants such as Devil’s Snare
- Second: Begin working with slightly more dangerous plants, but they require protective tear for safe handling. Work with Mandrakes, and Afyssinian Shrivelfigs.
- Third: Lighter on the lectures, and work more hands on like harvesting puffapods
- Fourth: Even lighter on the lectures, and learn the properties of bubotuber pus, and have practical lessons
- Fifth: Begins on many lectures stressing the importance of their O.W.L. and loading them with essays and homework.
- Sixth: If the O.W.L. grade was passable and the students wish to continue, students continue taking the class and there is more hands on, and essays in preparation for the N.E.W.T.
- Seventh: Prepare for the N.E.W.T. in the highest offered level of Herbology in Hogwarts.

Muggle Studies Professor: | Professor Hannaleigh Bills | Textbook: | Home Life and Social Habits of British Muggles | Class Details: | - Muggle Studies goes over the understanding of electricity to muggle technology, and the difference in thinking between a magical being and a non magical being.
- Taken as a joke by most wizards it is required if you are planning on working near muggles.
- This class is and elective, and you can start it in your third year and go until your fifth year.

- Practical N.E.W.T. includes the making of a potion, and describing what it does, and what could happen if the potion was brewed incorrectly.
- Classes are usually double classes.
- Takes place in the dungeon.
- This class is not an elective, and you take it through your fifth year. If your O.W.L.s aren’t at least and E you are encouraged not to continue on in this class.
Supplies- A Pewter #2 Cauldron - Knife - Mortar and Pestle - Potion Making kit - Brass scales Schedules for the years are as follows:- First Years: Simple potions like the boil cure potion, and finals for a student to make a forgetfulness potion.
- Second Years: Swelling solution, and Hair-Raising Potion. Finals include a slightly difficult potion, and a detail of how it works
- Third YearsShrinking Solution, and Finals include an essay of what a bezoar is and what it does
- Fourth Years: Studying antidotes extensively, and a Wit-Sharpening Potion. Finals include detailing out the specific ingredients to a polyjuice potion, and explaining why it recommends no animal hair.
- Fifth Years” Draught of Peace, a tricky OWL standard potion that not even the professor knows until the year before, strengthening Solution, Diagram of a Chinese Chomping Cabbage, and an essay on Confusing and Befuddlement Draughts
- Sixth Years: Making elixers in class, and researching Everlasting Elixers
- Seventh Years: Extensive work on potions, and many essays in order to prepare for the N.E.W.T.

Transfiguraion Professor: | Professor Marina Magova | Textbook: | A beginner’s Guide to Transfiguration, Intermediate Transfiguration, Guide to Advanced Transfiguration | Class Details: | - Transfiguration is magic which changes one object into another. It is possible to change inanimate objects into animate ones and vice versa.
- Transfiguration is subject to rules, such as Gamps law of Elemental Transfiguration which has five principal exceptions like food. Food can’t be created out of thin air, but can be moved or changed.
- This class is not an elective, and you must take it all seven years.
